State tax records indicate there’s a slow-down in Iowa’s economy. Sales tax receipts measure consumer confidence and buying patterns. Experts say there’s just one percent growth in state sales tax collections compared to last year. House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Millage of Bettendorf says the economy may have hit the skids, and tax receipts show it. Millage says it means lawmakers should quit dreaming up new state spending projects.State sales tax receipts have been flat since the first of December.
