Cowboy show coming to LeClaire

Plans unveiled today would bring a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy show to the eastern Iowa town where it all began. The Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire intends to hold the grand opening of its new wing with a literal bang — and lots of them. The town where Bill Cody was born wants to bring in the California-based re-creation of the Wild West Show, complete with blazing guns, rope tricks, horse stunts and more.Pamela Black of the Quad City Convention and Visitors Bureau says the Wild West Show would tentatively return to eastern Iowa for the Museum wing opening in the fall of 2002. Buffalo Bill himself performed three shows in Davenport, the last time in 1913, just four years before his death.The Wild West Show would run seven to ten days in the Mississippi River town, just east of Davenport. The show has appeared in 26 countries and throughout the U-S.
