Sen. Harkin calls for Study of Elections

In hopes of preventing another election fiasco, Senator Tom Harkin hasintroduced a bill to set up a special panel to look into how America votes.The Commission for the Comprehensive Study of Voting Procedures would do aone-year study and present recommendations for reform. Harkin, a democrat,introduced the bill Wednesday alongside Senator Arlen Specter, a republicanfrom Pennsylvania. The proposed commission would be bi-partisan. Harkin saysother nations have apparently mastered new advances in voting and the U-Smight learn from their examples. Harkin says it’s time to “move beyondpartisan bickering and work together to bring our voting system into the21st century.”
