Utility says natural gas prices will drop

February 2, 2001 By admin

One of Iowa’s largest utilities says natural gas customers can expect lower bills next month. MidAmerican Energy spokesman Mark Reinders says starting on February 5th, the price per unit of natural gas will fall. The price will drop from a dollar-five per therm to 79-cents. Reinders says the milder temperatures in January compared to December caused less natural gas to be used, reducing demand — and the price. He says the drop should average 80 to 90 dollars for most Iowa customers.Even with the price drop, natural gas is twice as expensive this February as it was a year ago.
