Governor Tom Vilsack’s meeting privately with lots of “players” today. Vilsack called leaders of 40 different interest groups into his office. The discussion focused on tax cuts. Vilsack’s reportedly steamed his democrat colleges joined with republicans to pass a 100-million dollar sales tax cut, which he signed into law Monday. Vilsack’s warning interest groups their pet projects will be killed if they don’t help him defeat other tax cut proposals republicans plan to advance. Joe Shannahan, a spokesman for the Governor, says with more tax cuts, the state won’t have the resources for priorities like hiring more child abuse investigators or increasing teacher pay.
