Mason City authorities are investigating Friday’s death of a boy who was being restrained while a resident at a center for children with behavioral and psychological disorders. According to a statement released by Gerard of Iowa, 11-year-old Tanner James Wilson died at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa after becoming unresponsive Friday afternoon following the holding. Cerro Gordo County Medical Examiner Dr. Dale Andres says his autopsy on Wilson found the boy died of respiratory arrest, but he is working with police and officers with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to pinpoint the exact cause of death.
