Qwest gives Council Bluffs the digitial switch

February 13, 2001 By admin

An expensive “switch” has been flipped so the 32-thousand Qwest customers in the Council Bluffs area have digital phone connections. Qwest spokesman Curt Stamp says Qwest spent six-point-six million dollars on the new digital switch, which replaces the old analog system.Stamp says with the digital switch, calls are clearer and go through faster. He says there will be less network congestion, which he says is important for computer users.Stamp says Qwest has just two remaining analog systems, in the Marshalltown and Dubuque areas. Qwest has about 800-thousand customers in Iowa.
