Two Eastern Iowa schools move ahead with bond issues

February 14, 2001 By admin

Clinton County voters have approved a local option sales tax for schools. The tax passed with 65-percent voting yes. It goes into effect July first for ten years. The Western Dubuque School District hopes to get some of those Vision Iowa funds to make a school bond issue more appealing to voters. The district is applying for a million dollars from Vision Iowa. In December, a six-point-four million-dollar bond issue was rejected. It would’ve provided a new elementary school and more classroom space. The Vision Iowa funds could only be used if the bond issue passes later this year.
