A Delaware County woman is on a waiting list for an organ transplant while she battles an unusual lung disease. Rita Heims, a longtime Catholic schoolteacher at St. Mary’s in Manchester, says the illness makes it very difficult for her to breathe.Heims says she found out she had the rare, still-unidentified disease last summer.Heims is waiting for a lung transplant that would be done at a hospital in Minneapolis. She has these words of advice for those who are thinking about becoming an organ donor. She says there is more demand then there are donors and it’s an important thing for people to do.She may have to wait two and a half years for a transplant.
