If you wear contact lenses, you may have some money coming to you. Attorneys General from Iowa and 31 other states have won a 17-and-a-half million dollar settlement from Bausch and Lomb. Bob Brammer, a spokesman for Iowa’s Attorney General, says the suit accused several contact makers of illegally signing an agreement that made doctors and eye care clinics the only place to buy their contacts.Brammer says the agreement harmed competition and gave consumers less choice.Consumers who’ve worn contacts since 1988 could be eligible for up to one-hundred-20 dollars from Bausch and Lomb.The Attorney General’s website, IowaAttorneyGeneral.org, has more information. CIBA Vision, another contact maker, settled with the suing states last year. Cases against the American Optometric Association and Johnson & Johnson Vision Products will go to court March 19. Surrounding states Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota and Wisconsin participated in the case.
