Forecasters say foul weather is ahead for most of the weekend. Almost all of Iowa is under a winter storm watch or a winter weather advisory. Shane Searcy, meteorologist at the National Weather Service, says much of the state can expect a mix of snow, sleet, ice and rain. Searcy, who works in the Johnston N-W-S office near Des Moines, says it’s a typical weather pattern for the transitional time between winter and spring, since it’ll include everything from rain to snow. He says it may warm up and calm down for a while tomorrow at mid-day, but then the picture changes. Searcy says many parts of the state may experience very foul travel weather this weekend, especially in the northwestern corner of the state. Some areas could get 2-to-4 more inches of snow along with a quarter-inch of ice, while the rain elsewhere could cause flooding.
