Iowan heads to Washington to help President Bush

February 27, 2001 By admin

A western Iowa Republican Party worker has just gotten the biggest promotion of her lifetime and is headed for the White House. Mary Ann Hanusa, who runs Senator Grassley’s Council Bluffs office for the next few days, starts her new job March 5th. The 37-year-old has been named Director of the Office of Personal Presidential Correspondence. She’ll help keep President Bush in touch with his family and friends. Hanusa worked a similar job in the previous Bush administration but was not the director. She says life is very hectic at the moment, since she’s trying to pack all of her belongings to move to Washington D-C while preparing for the President’s visit to Council Bluffs on Wednesday. For the past five years, Hanusa has served as Senator Grassley’s liaison for the public in 11 southwest Iowa counties.
