Maytag announced expansion

Maytag will invest 19-million dollars to expand washer and dryer production facilities in Newton. The money will also expand Maytag’s research labs in Newton. Newton Mayor Dave Aldridge says Maytag C-E-O Leonard Hadley’s been talking about increased investment in Maytag’s Newton facilities, but Aldridge says the 19-million dollar figure is “a little staggering”.Maytag will also spend three million dollars to upgrade a plant in Herrin, Illinois that makes transmissions for some of the washers that’re made in Newton.
