Top ranked Union falls in 3A tournament play

A big upset last night in the Class 3A semifinals at the girl’s state basketball tournament. Katie Rapp hit two free throws with nine seconds remaining as Davenport Assumption stunned top ranked Union of Laporte City 52-50. It marked Assumption’s second straight comeback win of the tournament and Rapp says they are confident in those situations. She says they’ve been in every situation possible this year and have played through them.For Union is marked their first loss of the season.Union coach Rob Driscol says it’s tough after losing at the same point in the tournament last year. Second ranked Washington will bid for a third straight title. Stephanie Rich poured in 25-points, including five three pointers as the Demons downed Atlantic 50-33.For Rich, it will be her fourth championship game and her 12th game at the state tournament.
