A south-central Iowa maker of agricultural and industrial equipment is laying off of about one-tenth of its staff. Vermeer Manufacturing of Pella is cutting more than 230 production and office jobs. Company officials say the layoffs are an attempt to bring hours worked in line with current market trends.
