Deadline looms for bills in the legislature

March 12, 2001 By admin

A deadline looms Friday for action on bills in the legislature. A bill must have cleared a committee in either the House or Senate, or it’s dead for the year. House Republican Leader Christopher Rants of Sioux City says none of the G-O-P’s priorities are endangered. He says everything is on track except for a bill to raise the speed limit.Several bills are set for committee action this week. The most notable is the plan that makes major changes in the way teachers are paid in Iowa.
