Five of the state’s teams have made the NCAA men’s and women’s tournaments. Iowa and Iowa State are sending both their men’s and women’s teams, and the Drake women are going to the Big Dance, too. Vilsack says Iowa may not have mountains or oceans, but “we clearly have college basketball.” Vilsack claims no other state has four women’s basketball teams in post-season play.
