The future of many Iowa politicians rests in the latest Census data that was delivered to the statehouse yesterday. The Census numbers are now broken down on a county and city basis. A computer disc with all that information is now in the hands of the non-partisan group that’s writing the plan, which re-draws the lines for Congressional and legislative districts. In 1991, two incumbent Congressmen were thrown together in a re-drawn second congressional district. No one knows what’ll happen this year, and politicians who want to run for Congress must sit around and wait. The first plan for re-mapping Iowa’s Congressional and legislative districts may be released as early as late April.
