Iowa legislators are weighing in on the tax cut plan President Bush is pushing. Bush has proposed a one-point-six trillion dollars, 10-year tax reduction plan. Republicans in the Iowa Senate this morning passed a resolution endorsing Bush’s plan. Senate Republican Leader Stewart Iverson of Dows says people will benefit from the tax reduction. Democrats like Senator Steve Hansen of Sioux City said the resolution was meaningless.Hansen said the surplus should be used to pay down the national debt and fix Social Security and Medicare. Iverson, the republican leader, responded to Hansen, saying the two parties have different philosophies. Republicans in the Iowa House passed the pro-Bush resolution, too. None of the democrats in the Iowa legislature endorsed Bush’s tax plan.
