An eastern Iowa man has been named “National Champion of Energy” by the federal government. The U-S Department of Energy presented the award to John Root of Muscatine for improving that town’s energy efficiency through the “Energize Muscatine” program which he launched a year and a half ago to raise awareness about the benefits of efficiency. He does free walk-throughs of homes and businesses and offers advice on how to save energy. Root says it’s easy to do his job in a town like Muscatine since people are so conscious of the need to be energy-efficient. Adamson was presented with the award Wednesday in Atlanta, Georgia.
