An expert on Herbert Hoover will be in the former President’s hometown of West Branch Sunday for a unique lecture. Hoover Library Association spokeswoman Pat Hand says Dr. David Hamilton will talk about Hoover’s role in the Great Depression. The Depression is rarely discussed at the Hoover Library, as the only Iowa-born president is often blamed for the hard times. Hand says that’s far from the truth as she says the stock market crashed a few months before Hoover even took office. Hand says Hamilton is an associate professor of history at the University of Kentucky. Hamilton is in the midst of research for a multi-volume biography of Hoover.Hamilton is a native Iowan from Central City who has degrees from the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. Hamilton’s lecture Sunday at 3 p-m is open to the public and free.
