Cael Sanderson remains perfect, Iowa loses team title

March 19, 2001 By admin

Iowa’s string of national titles came to an end but another streak is alive after the N-C-A-A wrestling championships in Iowa City. Iowa State University’s Cael Sanderson won his third straight championship and ended the season with a perfect 119-0 record. Iowa needed to win all four of its title matches to win the title, but won only two and Minnesota became the first team to win the title without an individual champion.
