Iowa basketball coach Steve Alford will be staying put. Indiana University, today, gave “interim” coach Mike Davis the job, permanently. He signed a four-year contract. Vice President Terry Clapacs headed the search committee to find a permanent coach. He says the original intent was to let the season run its course and, after the season was over, open up a search. Clapacs says it became clear at the committee’s first meeting on Monday that Davis was the choice. Davis says after he replaced Bobby Knight, he was told by the committee that he would be judged on the entire season. He says he appreciates the opportunity to prove himself. Davis says he wants to take the Hoosier program to the next level.
