The state’s spending over three million dollars on t-v and radio ads targeting the tobacco habits of teenagers. Tammi Blackstone is youth coordinator of the “Just Eliminate Lies” campaign. She says they’re hoping the hard-hitting message will reach teens.Blackstone says the ads feature teens who can talk to their peers.Blackstone says the ads focus on both the health consequences of smoking, as well as the manipulating way cigarettes are marketed to teenagers.The state’s spending over nine million dollars on the effort to keep teenagers from picking up the smoking habit. Over one thousand Iowa teenagers attended concerts last November, and joined the “Just Eliminate Lies” group and promised to tell their peers that smoking is bad.
