Nora Springs man wants Republican nomination for Senate

A northern Iowa republican who hopes to challenge democrat Tom Harkin in 2002 says republican Congressman Greg Ganske can’t defeat Harkin because Ganske’s “too moderate.”Bill Salier of Nora Springs is planning a primary fight against Ganske, who formally announced his candidacy on March 3rd. Salier says Ganske has become a “quasi-liberal/moderate.”Salier says former President Ronald Reagan showed that conservative republicans can win. He says Reagan believed in people, not the federal government.Salier is a former Marine who now farms near Nora Springs. Ganske is a plastic surgeon from Des Moines.
