The bill that would ease restrictions for companies that build new power plants in Iowa is “on the brink” according to one legislative leader. House Republican Leader Christopher Rants of Sioux City is working with the leader of House Democrats in hopes of coming up with a compromise. But Rants says he’s willing to put the bill on hold for a year. He says he hasn’t made a decision about whether they will debate the bill. He says he wants to be sure the bill actually does something.Last week, Rants had said the bill would be debated by the House this week. The coalition of groups that allied last year to help kill deregulation of the electric utility industry has gotten together again to oppose this year’s power station bill.
