Grassley says chill out on China

April 10, 2001 By admin

America needs to “keep cool” about the China situation, according to Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, at least until the 24-member U-S crew and the spy plane are safely out of China.Grassley says bring ’em home, then give China a “swift slap in the face” by selling all the arms to Taiwan which that nation wants — and then some. For now, Grassley says President Bush is handling the situation fine. The Iowa republican says the president should not say he’s sorry.Grassley would not support sanctions on China because if the U-S was the only nation to ban trade with China, it would only hurt the U-S. He suggests appealing to the United Nations for a wider course of action.
