Wartburg takes early Iowa Conference lead in baseball

April 11, 2001 By admin

Wartburg has the early lead but the rest of the Iowa Conference baseball race has been balanced to this point. Of the 14-conference doubleheaders played, nine have ended with a split. Upper Iowa is 2-2 and coach Mark Danker says the balance is not a surprise. Danker expects a logjam in the race for the six spots in the post season conference tournament. Danker says one good week could put any number of teams into the title hunt. Upper Iowa hosts Dubuque in a doubleheader on Thursday.
