Agency twister claims another victim

April 12, 2001 By admin

A second death is now blamed on yesterday’s wide band of tornadoes that swept across the Hawkeye State. Both victims were Ottumwa women — 73-year-old Mary Ellen Hewitt was killed in the storm yesterday, while 61-year-old Helen Bacon died this morning at a hospital in Des Moines. Two other women were injured in the Agency twister: 58-year-old Dianne Gibson of Sigourney and 56-year-old Judith Headly of Ottumwa.
