Davenport prepares for flooding

The City of Davenport is in emergency flood mode.With the water predicted to crest five feet above flood stage later this month, the city is preparing for the worst. City crews are building an eight foot tall berm around the local baseball stadium, while local businesses are piling up sandbags. Public Works Director Dee Bremmer says they need to have everything in place when the water hits 18 feet by the middle of next week.Bremmer says they have to prepare for the worst and hope it doesn’t happen, since the city hasn’t installed a floodwall.Bremmer says the city is offering sandbags to any residents who want them.
