Iowans work to beat tax deadline

Sweating over last-minute taxes? An Iowa accountant says one of the most common mistakes a taxpayer can make is to overlook possible deductions:A Des Moines tax accountant says that there can be significant tax benefits for non-cash contributions to some non-profit organizations. Jeff Strawhacker says you can reduce your stress by staying organized, being accurate, not rushing, and paying attention. With the deadline for income taxes Monday, Strawhacker says there are no big changes in the federal or Iowa code to worry about, and says being meticulous and remembering to note all your possible deductions may ease the pain of paying your taxes.
