A workshop that introduces women to the “Great Outdoors” continues to gain popularity in Iowa. Gloria Baker coordinates the “Becoming an Outdoors Woman” workshop for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Baker says women pick four activities to work on during the weekend, including hunting, shotgun shooting, and river-fishing. 32 different programs are offered during the weekend. She says 47 states now offer this type of workshop.This is the 12th year for the workshops in Iowa. Baker says the hardest part of the workshop is registering.
