Iowa’s top republican politicians decided to stage a news conference the day your taxes are due to praise President Bush’s tax cut plan. State Auditor Richard Johnson, a candidate for Congress, was on hand. Johnson says under the President’s order, an estimated 194-thousand small business owners and entrepreneurs in Iowa will benefit. Congressman Greg Ganske of Des Moines, a candidate for the U-S Senate, says the average Iowa family of four will get 16-hundred dollars back under President Bush’s plan. Ganske says it’s vital to boost the economy now before it goes down too far. Iowa Republican Party chairman Chuck Larson says current tax law “punishes” the family. The U-S House has already passed President Bush’s tax cut plan, but the Senate has endorsed a plan that provides less tax relief.
