Grasley hails new wind farm

April 17, 2001 By admin

Iowa’s newest wind farm is being dedicated this morning just a few miles from the Minnesota border, near the Worth County town of Joice. The “Top of Iowa Wind Energy Farm” is taking advantage of what Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley calls “an underused, very abundant, renewable resource.”Grassley introduced a bill last month that would extend tax credits for wind energy farms for another five years. He says harnessing the free, alternative resource of the wind is a wise move.Grassley says wind power will help clamp down on power shortages and soaring energy prices. The Joice facility is among four new wind power projects going online in Iowa this year, joining 20 other wind energy facilities in the state.
