DNR offers fishing reports

April 18, 2001 By admin

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is once again offering weekly state fishing reports. D-N-R spokesman Mick Klemesrud says the report is issued every Tuesday. The report is based on information gathered from fisheries offices and bait shops across the state. He says Iowa fish were hit hard by winterkill, but he doesn’t expect that to impact the overall quality of fishing this year. Klemesrud says the winter wasn’t all bad for fishing — record snowfall has helped replenish some lakes that’ve suffered from the drought. Klemesrud says the increased water levels in a number of lakes will be beneficial for some fish as well. You can get the report on-line at the DNR’s webpage at www.state.ia.us/DNR.
