Cable program features Iowa restaurants

April 20, 2001 By admin

A crew from a national cable T-V show is roaming around Iowa through next week, shooting features in a few reputable restaurants. The Food Network program called “The Best Of” features five places in five states in a half-hour. Upcoming episodes will include the restaurant at the Hotel Pattee in Perry, Jacob’s Table in Postville and the Take 5 Coffeehouse and Bakery in Dubuque. Jill Cordes has co-hosted the show for two years. Cordes was born in Washington State, grew up in Pennsylvania, did T-V news in Omaha and South Dakota, but now lives in Minneapolis. She considers herself a Midwesterner now, and is one of the reasons she wants to shoot in Iowa.Other stops will include Jim’s Rib Haven in Rock Island, Illinois, and Cleverly Farms in Mingo, Iowa, for a feature on farm fresh produce. Cordis says the segments on Iowa eateries likely won’t air for several months.
