For the second time this season Iowa State pitcher Alan Bomer has been named the Big-12 pitcher of the week. The sophomore pitched eight scoreless innings in the Cyclones 2-0 victory over 21st ranked Texas on Saturday. I-S-U coach Lyle Smith says Bomer is one of the reasons the Cyclones are in the hunt for a spot in the conference post season tournament. He says Bomer overcame the loss of his father last fall to a heart attack. Smith says Bomer has a bright future with a great arm that gives him a great fastball and control. At 9-11, the Cyclones are in the midst of a fight for a spot in the post season tournament. Smith says his team has to approach the final six games like they have to win them all.
