Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell says it’s time to end the discussion aboutformer Nebraska Senator Bob Kerry’s recent admission involving the Vietnam War. Kerry revealed that he led a mission in which up to 30 unarmed civilians, mostly women and children, were killed. Boswell is a Democrat who served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot.Boswell says he’d never believe that Kerry would deliberately kill innocent people. Boswell says he feels sorry for the innocent people that were killed, but he understands how it happened in the midst of a war. He says he was in the same area where the incident occurred, and he says in the dark of the night when you come under fire, it’s natural to fire back.Boswell doesn’t believe the military should open a new investigation of the incident. He says the problem should “stop being talked about” as it’s awkward to have this debate 32 years later.
