Walleye season set to open

Most fish in Iowa are fair game all year ’round. But serious anglers await the opening of the Walleye and northern pike season this weekend, and fisheries manager Jim Christiansen in the northwestern DNR district says all signs point to a good fishing opener:Christianson says the Iowa Great Lakes fishing opener isn’t just for local anglers. He says one gauge is the Easter Seals tournament this weekend. It’s grown to about 1500 entrants, with fishing enthusiasts from all over the upper Midwest as well as the state.An Iowa fishing license costs 10 dollars a year, and another ten for a trout stamp.
