Anamosa man kills himself after police chase

May 9, 2001 By admin

One law officer was hurt and the man who was the focus of a dragnet is dead after a chase in eastern Iowa. Anamosa Police and Jones County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic dispute where shots had been fired about 10:30 Tuesday night. A patrol car was hit by gunfire and the suspect fled the scene on foot. Some 35 officers joined the manhunt. The suspect later fled in a vehicle and allegedly rammed a state patrol car, injuring a trooper. The suspect, whose name has not been released, reportedly took his own life in a state park in Linn County.
