A four-week-long strike at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids has come to an end. One-hundred-70 union members went on strike over issues like weekend pay and layoff language. The union also protested the transfer of eight workers to a company subsidiary that will take over power production for the plant.Union leader Joe Ironside says workers looked at the issues differently according to their position and tenure.Ironside says some issues may have to be hammered out in the future, but workers thought enough problems were resolved, they felt comfortable coming back to work and ending their strike.
