Top Republican says three items will be discussed in special session

May 26, 2001 By admin

The legislature’s top republican leader says three issues will be on the agenda of next month’s special session. Governor Vilsack’s calling lawmakers back to Des Moines on June 19th, and House Speaker Brent Siegrist of Council Bluffs says besides considering a plan that redraws legislative and congressional districts lines, lawmakers are trying to find common ground on a bill that’d make it easier for power plants to be built in Iowa. The third issue: extending a business tax that supports the operation of 56 Workforce Development offices around the state. Governor Vilsack is pushing that issue.
