After several potential candidates dropped out, at least one republican plans to take on the current democrat Governor next year.State Representative Steve Sukup of Dougherty plans to run against Governor Vilsack in 2002. Sukup is a 44-year-old industrial engineer is the House Speaker Pro Tem.
