A new webcam lets you follow every move of a Des Moines family of peregrine falcons. Go on-line and Jim Zohrer of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says you can watch the peregrine family nesting on the American Republic Insurance Building in downtown Des Moines. The parent falcons are raising two male and one female chick, which are almost ready to fly. Zohrer says the parents usually feed their young in the morning and afternoon. Zohrer says the website is designed to bring more attention to state efforts to reintroduce the endangered species to Iowa. To get a look at the peregrine falcons, surf to www.state.ia.us/government/dnr and click on the wildlife pages link.
