Governor signs Workforce Development bill

June 27, 2001 By admin

Governor Vilsack signed the “Surcharge Extension Bill” on Tuesday in Creston, one of the bills legislators passed during last week’s special session. It will allow the state’s 56 Iowa Workforce Development offices to stay open. Vilsack was pleased the legislation became reality. He called it one of his proudest moments as Governor because local people got legislators to respond.Vilsack says the extension will provide funds for the next two fiscal years. The Creston Workforce center was among those slated to close had the legislation not become law.
