Good news for swimmers — the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the condition of the water at state beaches rapidly improved this week. D-N-R spokesman Steve Pennington keeps an eye on the test results. He says the recent warm dry weather has caused bacteria levels at the lakes to drop.Pennington says three beaches: Bobwhite State Park in Wayne County, Lake Darling State Park in Washington County and Backbone State Park in Delaware County remain closed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the bacteria levels are unsafe.Last week, there was one other beach that was closed, and seven that had bacteria warnings posted.
