State legislator takes job with federal legislator

July 5, 2001 By admin

A western Iowa legislator has resigned to take another political job. Republican Donna Barry of Dunlap resigned from the Iowa House this week to become manager of Senator Charles Grassley’s Council Bluffs office. Barry represented Harrison County and part of Pottawattamie County and lists farming as her occupation. A special election must be held to fill the seat, and Governor Vilsack has set it for Tuesday, November 6th. Whomever is elected will serve the remaining year of Barry’s term.
