Iowa’s First Lady has surgery

July 6, 2001 By admin

Iowa’s First Lady is in the hospital, recovering from surgery. Christie Vilsack had a benign nodule on her thyroid removed in surgery performed yesterday in Des Moines at Mercy hospital. Vilsack’s doctors say the procedure was routine and she’s expected to fully recover. She may spend another night in the hospital, though. Governor Vilsack has dumped his entire schedule for the duration so he can spend time with his wife in the hospital.
