A Cedar Falls author who specializes in writing about women’s issues has written a book called “Women College Basketball Coaches.” Rosemarie Skaine’s book includes profiles of U-N-I coach Tony DiCecco and former University of Iowa coaches Vivian Stringer and Angie Lee. Former University of Iowa Women’s Athletic Director Christine Grant is also profiled as a contributor to the game. Skaine says many other nationally known women’s coaches and players are profiled.Skaine played six-on-six basketball in high school and says her interest in the game was one of the reasons she chose to write the book. The book also examines the impact of the federal “Title Nine” legislation on opening up opportunities for women in the sport. Skaine says the recent success of all four of Iowa’s division one women’s basketball teams shows how the game is advancing.Skaine’s book is available at most major bookstores or through McFarland Publishers at www.Mcfarlandpub.com.
