Dubuque Mayor Terry Duggan today signed the final agreement for a 40-million dollar grant from the Vision Iowa Board. The grant will help fund the “America’s River Project” on the riverfront in Dubuque. They’re ready to break ground on the hotel near the end of the month and the groundbreaking for the education/conference center later this month. Duggan says all components of the project should be finished in the next two years.Duggan says the 188-million dollar project should bring in one-half to three-quarters of a million additional people to the city on top of the one-point-two million tourists that already visit each year.Duggan says those extra people could add 75 to 80-million dollars to Dubuque’s economy each year.
